so yesterday i had to go to a seminar for work. the seminar was titled: "Medical Terminology: Understanding Their Language". It was marketed for law professionals and insurance professionals that have to read medical records for claims/court cases. So you'd think that the seminar would be about medical terminology, right? ok, no, it wasn't. i mean, they touched on medical terminology at the beginning, but then the whole middle part of the day (less the hour at the beginning and an hour at the end) was pretty much for lawyers who work on medical malpractice cases. yeah. it sucked. it was hella boring. i was interested in that first and last hour where they were discussing medical terminology and then different tests etc, but the whole middle part was just one huge waste of my day. beh. it was nice to be out of the office for a day though. and meredith and i went to macaroni grill for lunch, so that was cool (but the seminar was at the desmond so i really felt that they should have fed us - whatever). but yeah. boring waste of day that kept me from getting some work done here, and i've got tons of shit to do here.

well, my car is extremely cute. and it's fast. and i quite enjoy it. and i'd write more now, but i'm tired...

argh. today is not going fast enough. 2.5 hours till i can leave... ugh.

so in honor of beetle day, i'm listening to the beatles (rock!) and i took a quiz on emode: which new beetle are you? I'm the "Rally":

"Rally

Ladies, start your engines! The supercharged New Beetle Rally is your car. It perfectly matches your revved-up energy level and speed demon tendencies, and its red-hot looks put the rrrrr in racing stripes.

Picture you and your friends burning down some country highway, on a road trip adventure. Who needs flower power when you've got the modern creativity to fuse sleek looks with the sizzle of a Nascar racing mobile?

Think it's too cute to keep up? No way: Like you, the Rally is a performance machine inside a hot little package. And it's not just another muscle car; all those cool features and slick design mean it's as unique as you. What could be sexier than VW cuteness coupled with racing car risk? Absolutely nothing, besides you of course."

yeah... i'm getting a little turbo beetle... rock!!!!!

ohhh... only a half hour has passed.... suck! why can't this day go faster?! sososososo can't wait to get my car!

ohmygod. i'm so excited to pick up my car today, i'm like peeing my pants. i can't believe it's only 930. i get to leave work in 4.5 hours. not soon enough though. i get to pick up my car in 7 hours. yea!! so excited! i'm like a kid on christmas eve. i couldn't sleep last night and i kept waking up all excited and sick feeling (you know how kids get so excited they puke? yeah... ). so so so so so so so so cannot wait to leave here and go get my car. this day is dragging. suck!

so i think i've decided to not watch the local news anymore. they just had 2 stories right in a row about home invasion robberies occurring in albany today. they both happened in the ghetto, and i don't live in the ghetto, but i could walk to the ghetto from here, it's not that far away. so now i'm all freaked out.

so i'm so freaking excited about picking up my car tomorrow. i've got everything done (insurance etc), all i need to do is sign the loan papers (gasp) tomorrow and pick up the car. i'm picking it up at 4:30. rock! i get to leave work early too... i'm leaving work at 2 so that i can meet my dad at the bank to sign the papers, and then i'm gonna clean out the saturn and then pick up the new car. rock! ugh. tomorrow is going to last forever until i get to leave work.

i paid less than kelly blue book on my car, and that's always lower than what dealers want to sell it for. so rock! i didn't get down into the 12k's though :( but i feel like i got a good deal on a great car! :) rock! and i just got insurance for it, and i'm only paying $100 more for a 6 month period than for my old car on my parents' policy. rock! i'm going to have to stick to a strict budget now, but i should be ok with bills etc. it's gonna be tight. but i'll be fine. i spend too much in general anyway. but rock! new car! yay! and by the end of may i'll have been at my job for 6 months and so i should be getting a raise (hopefully i've done well enough so that i don't have to be a trainee anymore!). it's not a big raise or anything... i think it works out to be like an extra $40 a paycheck... but that's still cool. yeah. anyway, so here's a pic of my car. isn't it cute? it's turbo and it's got a sunroof... :) very cute! i get to pick it up wednesday... rock!

so yay! i bought a car! rock! i got the cute little beetle at nemer :) i pick it up wednesday! yay! i think i'm like in shock or something though because i all of a sudden can't function, like, at all. i'm so happy about the car, but spending thousands of dollars is like hella scary. (hard to breathe). wow. yeah. new car. rock!

so, i think i'm going this afternoon after work to try and buy a beetle at nemer vw which is right down the street from where i work and is where i went first to test drive a beetle. i'm going to try and get the one that i test drove. if you go to the nemer webpage and click on the used car inventory link and look up New Beetle, the one that I want is the 2000 GLS Blue one with 11,000 miles on it that's listed at $15,995 on the webpage (stock number 4695a). When i went there Friday night to check the sticker to see if it was turbo (it is) and what the miles were etc, the price was down to $15,395, and then I saw in the paper on saturday that it was listed on clearance for $13,999. I emailed the salesguy (bill who is dave) to see if it's still available last night, so hopefully he'll email me today that it is. i doubt someone snatched it up because i think it's been on the lot for a while (the picture of it on the webpage has snow in the background). so i'm going today to see if they can get it down to at least in the $12ks for me. i don't think that will be an issue. i'm a little nervous though. i'm not a big fan of negotiating (which is funny, because that's part of my job). but it looks like they're looking to get rid of the car (they've already knocked like 10% off for clearance) and bill who is dave seemed pretty almost desperate to sell a car the other day (kept saying how it was slow and he could make me a deal) and it's getting near the end of the month, so i'm sure he'd love to make his quota... ugh. wish me luck! :)

so there's this trading spaces on right now and it's trading spaces goes hollywood and andy dick is on it. his teammate is his "ex-girlfriend." first of all, how weird is that, that your teammate would be your ex? but also, i'm not seeing that he'd have a girlfriend. also, i can't think of anyone more annoying than andy dick. and he's just being so hella annoying. i should just shut this show off and go to sleep.

so yeah. i got approved for a loan today at sunmark for $12,000 at 4.09%. how much does that rock? and i've decided to move my accounts over to sunmark because they are a credit union and they don't charge fees up the butt like fleet does. the reason why i went with fleet originally was because they had online banking and because there were fleet atms all over the place so i wouldn't have a problem finding an atm that i wouldn't pay a fee at. but sunmark has online banking with (it looks like) all the same functions that fleet has, and they also have a deal so that you can use any SUM atm 6 times a month without incurring a fee, and they have 2 atms in albany so i shouldn't have an issue (hey, as long as i have a check card, i don't need to get cash all the time). so yeah. so rock. got a car loan at a great APR, and if I use the whole amount of the loan my payments are still only $221/month and i can do that. rock.

so i bid on that perfect happy blue beetle that was in queens. i made my limit $9000, but the auction ended without it ever reaching the reserve price. so even though i was the high bidder, i didn't get the car. suckage. so yeah. the seller actually has already relisted the car. i don't think i'll be rebidding. i think i'm going to go to a local dealer and try and get a good deal on the first bug i test drove. it's a 2000 with a turbo engine and a sunroof and it's dark blue and it's only got 11k miles on it. they're asking $15,395, but i'll be going at the end of a slow month to try and buy the beetle with a preapproved loan so i'm thinking i should be able to get a good deal on it. bill (who is dave) should be able to do good for me. i hope. i'd like to give that guy a sale. he was nice. yeah. so. and the car was nice. and that's hella low miles and i'd be getting a 2 year/24k mile warranty. and that rules.

so yeah. beck and i went and test drove another beetle today. we went to cooley vw which is out by hvcc. they only had one manual new beetle, it was a yellow 1999 with 24k miles on it. it wasn't turbo and it had no sunroof and it was yellow, so i truly wasn't interested. but it's fun testdriving cars :) so yeah. the guy let beck and i take the car without coming along, so that rocked. so i drove down to this office park that's nearby that i worked in last year when i worked for measured progress through kelly temp services. we blared the music and raced through the park and beck drove for a while. beetles are fun to drive :) yeah. so... that was cool :) i brought the car back, and john (the salesguy) wanted to make a deal for me: they were asking 14 something and he said he could get it into thte 12s. but i wouldn't pay that much for that car. it was a 99, and it was yellow, and he couldn't start it right away... he had to jump it before we could drive it. in fact, he put the port-a-battery thing in the back seat so that in case we stalled the car we could jump it (which, that wouldn't have really been much help because neither of us would have known what to do with the thing had we stalled it). yeah. anyway.

beetles are fun, i'm so excited that i'm getting one. my mom is also going to help me out with getting a car. dad has totally been great. he's giving me $2000 for my current car, which is generous, and he bought my stocks that i got as a graduation gift off of me and he cosigned the loan for me at sunmark. he rules. I love my daddy :) and he suggested that i ask my mom if she'd help. i didn't think she would (at all) but i guess i caught her at a good time. she just got a home equity loan and she and RJ are getting a hot tub and a sauna for their house, so she can't really cry poverty. so... i told her that dad was giving me $2000 to help me buy a car and i asked her if she'd like to help. and she said yes :) she's sending me my birthday present early. i'm not sure how much she's sending, she didn't specify ("oh, ho, ho... did not specify! never kid a kidder...) and i didn't ask. so hopefully it'll be $2000 as well. but really, anything will be a help. so yeah. so once i know what i'm getting from her i'm going to go try and get a good deal on that first bug. rock! i'm a very lucky girl. my dad definitely rules, and my mom actually came through. and i'm getting a new car at a time when it's a "buyer's market" and i got a great APR. rock! hopefully, i'll have a new car by next week. yes! yes! excellent!
