so i get this daily email with the weather, my horoscope, some news/entertainment headlines and jokes etc, and there's this one feature called news of the wierd and this was in it today:
A paper by psychologist Michel Lariviere for Correctional Services of Canada concluded that most guards don't respect inmates (which inhibits rehabilitation efforts) (May). A $4 million study by University of Buffalo Research Institute on Addictions revealed that employees are much more likely to call in sick if they have drunk alcohol the night before (May). A Harvard School of Public Health survey found that people report more noise and other disruptions in binge-drinking college neighborhoods than in other neighborhoods (July). An Iowa State University study found that TV viewers had a harder time noticing the commercials on shows containing explicit sex than on other types of shows (June).
People get paid to do these studies? i want that job... i'll study the effect of winning the lotto on a person's debt... i volunteer to be the subject... anyway... the move begins in earnest today... did i spell that right? whatever... morelater... :)

so i'm hella lazy... i picked up my keys today and brought a bunch of dishes and assorted other kitchen items to my apartment today and i hung up my towels and shower curtain :) then when i got home i put on the second coat of red paint on the legs and bottom of my table. but now i've been sitting in my room since 430 doing nothing. i watched trading spaces - i love that show - and got pissed off because there were these two bitches working with the one designer. they were this slutty single mom and her slutty daughter, and they actually left overnight to both go on dates and got other people to do their homework for them. and then when doug, the designer they were working with, came back the next morning and quasi-yelled at them they were mean to him. and they kept mkaing rude comments about him behind his back... whatever. i was so irritated (why did i care that much, though, really...) anyway... i better pack more... morelater..

bored? looking for something to do? becky was and she found these:

Back to the Future

Ghostbusters
:) enjoy!

so i'm sitting here bored at work and i did another free tarot reading... for my past card i got 'the high priestess' which apparently means that actions and conditioning from the past may be affecting the present situation and now may be the time to bring hidden knowledge to the surface. whatever that means... my present card was 'death'. that doesn't seem like such a good thing... but it symbolizes 'necessary, profound and wonderful change' that 'should not be resisted.' 'the death card instructs us to rid ourselves of old and useless attitudes, ideas, and situations.' i'm supposed to 'look towards the future with faith not fear', and it says that in the midst of major changes, I feel stuck between the old and the new. that's actually pretty right on for an internet tarot card reading :) my future card was 'the lovers' which 'represents all that one would expect--love, friendship, marriage, sexuality, and the tree of life. The Lovers may also turn up at moral and ethical crossroads, representing major decisions, ordeals, duality, short trips and the road less taken. Their nakedness shows their freedom from ego and facade. Often times this card acts as a reminder to be true to oneself. New opportunities and relationships are steps away. Be true to your self throughout and all will work out fine.' i dunno... that first part sounds promising :)

so on the way to work this week, every morning at about 8:50 they've played that new slim shady song on kiss FM. i hate it when radio stations do that! i mean, they not only play all the same songs all the time, but they play them in the same order at the same time every day! how annoying. be creative... mix it up a little... anyway... the moral is for the first few hours at work every day so far this week i've been singing that song in my head... "guess who's back/back again..." morelater...

so you can get a free tarot reading here.... mine didn't tell me anything exciting....
my landlord called :) i get to pick up my keys on thursday (good cause that's the 1st)! I'm hella excited :) i got kitchen tools today... they were hella cheap at the christmas tree shop... it was a 41 piece set that includes all the cultery i'll ever need, serving/cooking utensils, measuring cups/spoons, and other assorted gadgets... they're cheap, but all i need them to do is last 2 years... i also got a cute sparkly shower curtain... it looks like a disco ball :) anywho... morelater...

so the dave matthews band concert was great :) becky and i got up to SPAC around 430 or 5 with our last minute tailgate dinner: gin and tonics and sushi... we got good and drunk before we went into the concert (our drinks got stronger as we got drunker... all of a sudden a gin and tonic consists of 3/4 gin and 1/4 tonic...). we didn't listen to the opening band really - they sounded pretty bland from what i heard... dave was great... the minute the music started the air got cloudy and the music seemed better :) when it started to get dark it rained off an on which was a godsend cause it was so freaking hot and humid! there were some cool lightening flashes too... The concert seemed short... dave started around 830 or so, and we were leaving at 1030 (actually, i guess about 2 hours is a good amount of time to be performing...)... it took forever to get out of the parking lot! It was about 1/2 hour before we were even able to move the car, and then about another hour before we were out of SPAC and on our way home... it sucked. the freaks were out in full force... on the way into spac there was this really annoying girl in a purple hippy dress who was hanging out her car window shouting to people.... then she saw a cop on a horse and got out, ran over to the horse and started petting it shouting, "oh my gawd! isn't it a gawgeous horse!" i was like, honey, if you're high already, you should get back in your car and not run up to cops... anyway... good times... morelater...
