so yeah. i got approved for a loan today at sunmark for $12,000 at 4.09%. how much does that rock? and i've decided to move my accounts over to sunmark because they are a credit union and they don't charge fees up the butt like fleet does. the reason why i went with fleet originally was because they had online banking and because there were fleet atms all over the place so i wouldn't have a problem finding an atm that i wouldn't pay a fee at. but sunmark has online banking with (it looks like) all the same functions that fleet has, and they also have a deal so that you can use any SUM atm 6 times a month without incurring a fee, and they have 2 atms in albany so i shouldn't have an issue (hey, as long as i have a check card, i don't need to get cash all the time). so yeah. so rock. got a car loan at a great APR, and if I use the whole amount of the loan my payments are still only $221/month and i can do that. rock.

so i bid on that perfect happy blue beetle that was in queens. i made my limit $9000, but the auction ended without it ever reaching the reserve price. so even though i was the high bidder, i didn't get the car. suckage. so yeah. the seller actually has already relisted the car. i don't think i'll be rebidding. i think i'm going to go to a local dealer and try and get a good deal on the first bug i test drove. it's a 2000 with a turbo engine and a sunroof and it's dark blue and it's only got 11k miles on it. they're asking $15,395, but i'll be going at the end of a slow month to try and buy the beetle with a preapproved loan so i'm thinking i should be able to get a good deal on it. bill (who is dave) should be able to do good for me. i hope. i'd like to give that guy a sale. he was nice. yeah. so. and the car was nice. and that's hella low miles and i'd be getting a 2 year/24k mile warranty. and that rules.

so yeah. beck and i went and test drove another beetle today. we went to cooley vw which is out by hvcc. they only had one manual new beetle, it was a yellow 1999 with 24k miles on it. it wasn't turbo and it had no sunroof and it was yellow, so i truly wasn't interested. but it's fun testdriving cars :) so yeah. the guy let beck and i take the car without coming along, so that rocked. so i drove down to this office park that's nearby that i worked in last year when i worked for measured progress through kelly temp services. we blared the music and raced through the park and beck drove for a while. beetles are fun to drive :) yeah. so... that was cool :) i brought the car back, and john (the salesguy) wanted to make a deal for me: they were asking 14 something and he said he could get it into thte 12s. but i wouldn't pay that much for that car. it was a 99, and it was yellow, and he couldn't start it right away... he had to jump it before we could drive it. in fact, he put the port-a-battery thing in the back seat so that in case we stalled the car we could jump it (which, that wouldn't have really been much help because neither of us would have known what to do with the thing had we stalled it). yeah. anyway.

beetles are fun, i'm so excited that i'm getting one. my mom is also going to help me out with getting a car. dad has totally been great. he's giving me $2000 for my current car, which is generous, and he bought my stocks that i got as a graduation gift off of me and he cosigned the loan for me at sunmark. he rules. I love my daddy :) and he suggested that i ask my mom if she'd help. i didn't think she would (at all) but i guess i caught her at a good time. she just got a home equity loan and she and RJ are getting a hot tub and a sauna for their house, so she can't really cry poverty. so... i told her that dad was giving me $2000 to help me buy a car and i asked her if she'd like to help. and she said yes :) she's sending me my birthday present early. i'm not sure how much she's sending, she didn't specify ("oh, ho, ho... did not specify! never kid a kidder...) and i didn't ask. so hopefully it'll be $2000 as well. but really, anything will be a help. so yeah. so once i know what i'm getting from her i'm going to go try and get a good deal on that first bug. rock! i'm a very lucky girl. my dad definitely rules, and my mom actually came through. and i'm getting a new car at a time when it's a "buyer's market" and i got a great APR. rock! hopefully, i'll have a new car by next week. yes! yes! excellent!
