Truly mobile blogging...
So Alex's parents knew that I was missing the PDA that I lost in the fire, and so for my birthday/sorry-you-lost-everything-in-a-fire gift, they gave me money to get a new one. So I bought myself a Treo 600 off of ebay. I love it. It's a combination PDA & cell phone, so I can surf the web - and post - from anywhere I get service. Awesome.
I'm so glad to have a PDA again.

Kick, Punch, Block!

Kick, punch, block
Chop, kick, block
Block, turn, and kick it
Block, duck, punch
Duck, duck, turn
Jump, kick, chop
Punch, punch, punch
So I took my first official Tae Kwon Do class last night. I got my uniform - which was HUGE because I'm tall - and was an official member of the class. A white belt. Wee... ;) My uniform was stiff and itchy, but I soon got it sweaty and didn't notice. :)
So the class seemed to go pretty well. We started off with some jumping jacks to warm up and moved on to some punches and blocks. I felt a wee bit stupid because I don't know basic technique and wasn't sure if I was doing it right or just flailing my arms. We did kicks moving across the floor... it was EXHAUSTING. I can kick high though, so that was cool. ;)
The last part of the class was sparring. This is where I felt like the biggest tool. We were paired up and it was explained to me that I needed to "throw my techniques" at them. Uh huh. I have no techniques. So I pretty much just dodged whatever wss thrown at me and tried to kick back.
Tae Kwon Do seems pretty kick intensive. That's all anyone was throwing at anyone else. No one was using their arms and punching. It looked like some odd, flailing, martial arts version of Irish dance.
Anyway, it was a good time. I'm sore, but it felt good to stretch and move. I'm definitely going to be going back. :)

long time, no write
So can I even tell you how busy I've been. Geez.
Work has been BUSY. Off the wall. I'm on the phone, like, seriously, 6 hrs out of an 8 hr day. But I love it! I don't mind coming in early and staying late. I totally enjoy the job. I'm totally exhausted by the end of the day... but the busy season is coming to an end soon (or so I hear) and it should calm down to a normal, not so frenetic pace.
Anyway, so it's been so busy at work that I get home and look at my computer and say, "yeah, no."
So... what's new.
Well, we went to an Irish Fest in Herkimer a few weekends ago. It was awesome. We camped out and it only rained the last night (we camped Friday and Saturday nights). Of course, that kind of sucked a little because we didn't have a rain fly for the tent. D'oh. We did have 2 small tarps that sort of worked. Well, they worked well enough to keep us mostly dry and not running for the car. Enter the Haggis and the Glengarry Bhoys played Friday night - two awesome bands right in a row. We were so exhausted by the end of the night that we just passed out - even though there was a street light in the parking lot right above our tent and people playing annoying country music and amateur bagpipes. Saturday, HOTD was there and they really had a great set. Lots of fun. :) Saturday night ended with Seven Nations - they rocked. Anyway. Good times.
We went to a wedding last weekend - Alex and Beck's cousin, Jill's. It was at the Desmond and it was beautiful! Jill's dress was gorgeous - very Maggie Sottero (my current favorite designer).
This week, we got our mattress! Yay!! Adam and Beth delivered it for us (we bought it from Adam's dad) - they rock!! Oh, and I think last week - or the week before - my Pa and brother delivered our black pedestal table and chairs for the kitchen - awesome!!! :) And this weekend, we painted and hung pictures. The apartment is really coming together and beginning to feel like home. We should be getting our bedroom furniture very soon - and then we'll pretty much be all set. Here are some pics of our living room, kitchen, and bedroom with new coats of paint:

Our Living Room with "Toasted Wheat" paint and some of our prints hung up.

Our Kitchen with "Asparagus" paint and our beautiful new black pedestal table!

Our Bedroom with "Morning Breeze" paint. Those pictures will be hung up after the furniture arrives.
Anyway, good stuff. We're going to want to buy a bookshelf for the living room and some lamps for the bedroom. And we're going to paint the guest room this nice pale yellow color (Alex is theming that room sort of Zen-ish). And the office is going to have one wall bright hot pink. Well, actually probably not. I think it'd be FABULOUS, but Alex has a differing opinion. I keep telling him that he rarely goes in there anyways, so it shouldn't matter to him. Sigh. Maybe if I can't get him to agree to that, I can put up some huge photo-real wallpaper/mural thing of a hot pink gerbera daisy. Actually, I don't even know if something like that exists. It would be hella cool though. I'm sure he'd veto that too... grr. ;)
What else. Oh yeah, I've also been a busy little bee preparing for Beck's shower - which is coming up soon!! September 3rd! I've got a lot of stuff done - party planning is SO much fun!! The invites turned out fabulously, and today, I got the favors all set and I am SO happy with the way they turned out! I wish I could put a picture up, but that'd ruin the surprise of it all. Anyway, I just think that I did a real good job and when I feel like that, I want to tell everyone about it. It's a problem I have. ;) Ok, enough with the ego. Anyway, the point is, things are turning out great and I'm so excited!! :)
Oh yeah, and I'm back on doing Weight Watchers (finally bought a scale again) and I'm hoping to lose AT LEAST ten pounds before the wedding. It's a definitely do-able number. If I wasn't such a piggy all summer (can't really chalk it all up to after-the-fire-stress-eating), I'd be in much better shape (literally) and would have been able to achieve my ultimate goal by October. As it is, I went UP a dress size and now have to fight to get back down to the size I wasn't that thrilled with to begin with. Ah well. I really am starting Tae Kwon Do tomorrow. There's a beginner's class on Monday nights and I'm much happier about starting in a class full of mostly beginners than I was about starting in a class with all levels. Actually, I'm pretty excited about it. :)
And now it's time for bed. I started this post exactly two hours ago and at that time I thought I'd be in bed early. Oops... ;) Later!
