I thought that I had nothing to do this past weekend and that I was going to be bored. Fortunately, that turned out not to be the case.
Saturday night was Foster and Amy's housewarming party. We trecked up to their place - really, a long drive, but always worth it :). The party was a lot of fun. Alex played bartender for a bit and I got drunk. We ended up staying the night in their spare room, which was very cozy. Foster made breakfast the next morning: apple cinnamon pancakes and scrambled eggs with cheese. It was delicious.
On the way home Alex spotted a plume of smoke rising somewhere out of the Troy area so he decided that he needed to go find the fire. We drove around for a bit and found it in Watervliet. Apparently some sort of old factory was burning. The fire must've been huge and smoke was just filling the streets (at one point it was kind of hard to see to drive). We found a good vantage point where other people were also pulled over to watch the fire. What's up with that, really? People were getting out of their cars, walking over to eachother and pointing and I'm sure they were saying things like, "well, that's a big one," and, "that building is a hazzard," and "those firemen are doing it all wrong, they should be spraying over there." I took a few pictures with my phone's camera:
After we'd watched the fire for a few minutes we drove back to my apartment where we got busy cleaning. I did the huge, disgusting pile of dishes and went through the mounds of mail covering my desk and table while Alex cleaned out the cubby in the porch that the cats had apparently been using as a spare litter box. Ew. It was really nasty, but Alex did a great job cleaning it out and now I can use it to store my huge rubbermaid tote filled with all my Christmas decorations. Yay! We got a lot of cleaning done and I feel much better about my apartment now. All I had left to do was the laundry and the floors. I got the laundry done last night (was at my parents' house from six until midnight!) and I'm planning on doing the floors tonight after my Weight Watchers meeting. And then my little place will be perfect and I can relax. Rock!
Good times.
