Domestic Goddess
Usually, I leave work around six, drive home in a daze, get home and
decompress on the couch while Alex either makes dinner or gathers
food. I usually spend the rest of the night on the sofa surfing on my
laptop or iPhone (or, randomly a combination of both) while I watch
Alex play video games or we watch G4 or DVR'd episodes of random
shows. That has been my life for the past few months.
Tonight I actually knocked myself out of my work induced evening
immobility and got some stuff done. I still left work around six, but
I stopped for groceries on the way home and got ingredients for two
meals as well as essential household supplies that we were lacking. I
got home and immediately stationed myself in the kitchen where I made
dinner for tonight - polenta with chicken marinara and steamed green
beans - and assembled the ingredients for corned beef and cabbage in
the crockpot insert that I now have in the fridge, waiting to be
inserted into the crockpot tomorrow morning so that it can cook all
day and be our dinner tomorrow night. After dinner, I finally got my
butt in gear and put away all of ou Christmas decorations - a task I
forbade Alex to do since I'm so particular about how I want it stored
and organized.
I still didn't get to the dishes or the laundry, but frankly, it's a
miracle that I got anything done when I'm usually grumpy and adhered
to the couch. Yay! Go me! ;)
