Ladies and Gentlemen...

Yeah. No big announcement actually. ;)

The bathroom is still dripping. Suck. Whatever. I've sent in the rent with plenty of deductions (all reasoned out and in line with what I was instructed to do by the property manager) and now I don't even want to think of it anymore. Hard not to, though, because we've still got a drip. One of the ceiling tiles above the toilet was coming loose (again) so we notified the property manager, who sent out maintenance... who just took the tile off the ceiling and shoved it in the hole that it left. These people are brilliant.

There may be a light at the end of the tunnel, though. Hopefully we'll be getting out of here soon. Alex wants to take the test for the Schenectady Fire Department, which means that we'd need to be living in Schenectady by May 1st. We're setting a plan into action that will hopefully get us out of this apartment before then. We've even started to check out apartments in Schenectady. Schenectady is not known for it's "fine living" but there are a few areas that are pretty nice.

I'd LOVE to live in the Stockade. Unfortunately, a lot of the apartments in that area are either tiny or they don't allow pets... but I'm keeping my hopes up. :) I visited an apartment at Barney Square Apartments, which are at the edge of the stockade, the other day. They actually called it a townhouse. It was a 2 bedroom, 2 level apartment on the 4th floor of the building. There's a skylight in the kitchen, a spiral staircase that goes down to the bedroom area, and a large terrace. It was... nice. I mean, I bet that it's one of the nicest apartments in Schenectady. But it had all of the markings of a complex apartment: beige carpets, beige walls, electric stove, and florescent lights in the bathroom. Ick. BUT... it is a secure building with 24 hour maintenance and a large laundry room right down the hall. Oh, and I could walk to work from there - pretty cool.

We're not out of this lease yet and we just started looking at apartments, so we're not making any decisions yet. We don't want to rush into anything and end up in another building that's falling apart. But it's really fun to look in the meantime!
