Just order a Large, Farva.
Good times.
You know what I hate? I hate when I've spent an entire weekend doing pretty much nothing but playing The Sims (2) and then when Monday rolls around and someone asks, "How was your weekend?" I really get the urge to say, "Well, first my Sim met this guy, and then they moved in together and fell in love and got married and then she got pregnant and when I finished up playing last night she'd just had twins!"
That's just truly lame. But also a pretty accurate description of my weekend.
Last weekend was super busy and much cooler. Saturday was Beck's shower - something that I'd been planning for months. I hadn't written much (or really, anything) about it because I wanted to keep most of the details a surprise. It wasn't a surprise shower - I think those are totally bogus - but it's still nice to not divulge every detail, right? Right. I sort of took over most of the planning of the shower. Dodi said that she let me run with it because she figured that I needed something happy to concentrate on after the fire. She was right. It was nice to be able to focus my energy on something other than rebuilding for a bit. And the shower turned out fabulously. We had it at this Italian restaurant in Troy, Moscatiello's because cooking for almost 50 people would have been sucky and catering would have cost just about as much as a restaurant, so there ya go. Plus, this place was pretty much decorated... it just needed a few touches. The favors were little glass bud vases with a stem of alstroemeria (don't know if I spelled that right) stuck in them. The centerpieces were larger vases with a few stems. All the flowers on the tables looked amazing. I made little favor-thanks-for-coming cards for each of the vases with quotes about love on them. My favorite was, "Anyone can be passionate, but it takes real lovers to be silly." The back of Beck's chair was decorated with tulle tied into a knot and finished with a flower to sort of look like a veil. Dessert was cupcakes which were arranged on a tiered cake stand (that I found at the Christmas Tree Shop for $9!) to mimic a wedding cake. It was good times. :)
That night, we had Beck's bachelorette party. We had a white stretch limo pick us up at Dodi's house and then we started the night off at Leon's Mexican Restaurant, which is near the track in Saratoga. The food there is "FOFA" (fucking-orgasmic-fucking-awesome) according to Foster - and he was right. I had the best mushroom quesadilla ever. Also, the margaritas were very good - and strong. Bob - our limo driver - met us at the door when we left the restaurant and took us downtown where we got our drink on and our dance on. It was very good times. We headed back to Dodi's house at the end of the night where we were struck by the need for tiny eggrolls. Since I had trouble getting/staying drunk that night, I drove the girls to Price Chopper for the food run. We got some very interesting pictures of Beck at PC. That girl - she knows meat.
Anyway, I've posted pictures from that Saturday here, for your viewing pleasure.
The next day, after breakfast at the Halfmoon Diner with the girls, I headed back to the apartment where I napped with Alex on the couch for a bit, and then we drove to Kingston for the "Hooley on the Hudson". It's this free mini-Irish fest. It rocked. The Glengarry Bhoys were there and so was Hair of the Dog. We enjoyed the music and did some shopping (Alex bought me trinity knot earrings and a HOTD T-Shirt). Oh, and we drank. And I got drunk. Very drunk. It was a good, Guinness-y drunk. Good times. Alex and I stopped at Beck and Kevin's house afterwards to sober up and have some pizza and then drove back to the apartment and crashed.
We spend Memorial day mostly at the Wham and Pa's doing laundry and hanging out. Wham cooked chicken on the grill (mmmmmmmmmm....) and corn on the cob and made some macaroni salad. The perfect summer meal. It was GORGEOUS out, so we ate out on the patio. Very good times. Alex is quite adorable: he mentioned the other day what a good time he had hanging out with the Wham and Pa. What a good boy. :) Oh, but there was something odd about that day: the Wham salted her watermelon. I guess she's been doing this forever and I never noticed. Wham: that's nasty. :)
Since that weekend it's been back to business. Work. Home. Tae Kwon Do. Bed. Oh, and Sims. This weekend, though... Well, this weekend is Irish Fest. It's like, our big holiday of the year, or something. It'll be good times. And then, after that, we roll right into our busy fall season of weddings, weddings, and more weddings. Wee... :)
It'll be Christmas before you know it...
