Another St Patrick's Season is Over...

This year seemed a little mellow compared to previous years... There were no good shows to go see on Parade day. The only act in town was the only act in town - though I do enjoy Hair of the Dog. I didn't really get drunk at all. But it was still Good Times.

Alex and I both took St Patrick's day off from work. We decided to check out the festivities at the Old Dublin Inn in Clifton Park because we were told that they were a good time. We got there to find out that they are a good time - if you're forty years old and divorced and really desperate. Needless to say, we didn't stay long. We ended up at Graney's in Albany for a little bit, and then it was off to Revolution Hall in Troy where we were going to see HOTD. We informed all of our friends that they'd need to show up around the time when the doors opened for the show (at 8) so that they'd be sure to get tickets. Did they listen? No. None of our friends had arrived before they sold out the show. We stayed for the first set and were having a good time, but left early because, though they'd sold out the show, they didn't have enough bartenders to handle the crowd. In fact, they only had two on. There was a line five people deep and the entire length of the bar the whole time. You had to wait about 20 minutes to get a drink - and Alex wasn't handling that well. So, we went home.

Oh, and did I mention that I hurt my back earlier that day? I'd folded myself up into the back seat of my Beetle because Alex was driving and we stopped to pick up one of his friends and I wanted to be polite. Yeah, well, never sit in the back of a Beetle. It's not Good Times. I'm still all really hurty in my lower back. Much suckage. I spent most of the rest of the weekend sitting on a heating pad.

We did get back out on Saturday night. We thought that since we didn't really get to see HOTD the night before, we'd try and catch them at the Parting Glass. Well, we didn't make reservations and of course the show was sold out. Alex bought a set of darts and we played darts in the dart room, which is right next door to the stage room, but we still really couldn't hear the show very well because they had the doors closed and were being sticklers about not letting people stand in the doorway to listen to the show. We had a good time throwing darts, though. Even though I suck. :) My back was pretty hurty, even though I was wearing an incredibly dorky heating pad belt, so we ended up leaving before the show was over again.

So, even though I'm an old, hurty, woman now and didn't get drunk and didn't really get to see HOTD all weekend, it was still a pretty Good Time. Besides, there's always next weekend. ;)
