so the us governement has this page set up, ready.gov where they have all these suggestions/instructions on how to deal with a terrorist attack. this page makes fun of the ambiguous symbols the gov't page uses. and it is hilarious. :)

so check out the starbuck's oracle. the little oracle guy is horribly mean looking (and cute!) it tells you what your personality type is according to what type of drink you order. i normally order a tall caramel macchiato.

so i had a pretty excellent weekend.

friday we went to see hotd at mcgeary's. always a good time. it was hella hella crowded in there, and they had the drummer instead of the tall guy. but big guy did a good job at finnagin's wake. afterwards we went to a pizza shop down the street and ate yummy pizza (ok, it was yummy at the time. but i'm sure if we went there in the middle of the day it would not be). one of the guys, murph, that was out with our friends came wondering in the shop. he's a paid firefighter in albany. so yeah, they left him at the bar. and he just happened to wonder into the pizza shop. so we all sat and talked for a while (brazil) and then we dropped murph off at his firehouse.

saturday morning came bright and early... beck and i got up early enough so that we could stop at mcdonalds for greasy breakfast before we picked up beck's friend amy at the train station. we got lost on the way to the train station (damn mappoint and their ambiguous directions!) but we got there before her train did. we went back to my place after a quick stop at dunkin donuts for some rank coffee and watched tv until we decided to head on over to murph's party at the union hall. we parked (beck drove the wrong way down a one way street. we told her she was fine at the time, we didn't think it was a one way, but later when i went back with alex to pick up her car i realized that it was a one way) and headed inside. and started drinking. it was 11am. the party was packed and they were playing hotd, so i had fun :)

later we walked down to watch the parade. alex and i went into pauly's hotel (a bar) and got 4 guinnesses. we thought they'd give them to us in plastic cups, but they gave them to us in glasses. so we just walked out anyway. i can't believe they let us walk out. we just walked right past like 3 bouncers at the door. soyeah. so i don't remember watching that much of the parade. then afterwards we went to my apartment so everyone could use the potty. we walked to the AOH hall but we didn't end up staying long because there were no bands playing and people were getting hungry.

after napping and watching super troopers at my apartment we went to Garcia's for dinner. alex found a table by the bar that happened to be the "worst table in the place." we got 1/2 off of our bill for eating there. rock! we went to the parting glass to see hotd but we didn't end up staying long. after a long day of drinking and then mexican food, no one could really drink that much more, and everyone was pretty tired. so we went back to my place.

i saw willard that night. very odd. really kinda creepy. not scary, but just weird. and gross. i had a horrible dream later that i was puking up dead rats. (oh, that's disgusting)

sunday morning we picked up eric and sarah to go to brunch. we went to the halfmoon diner and had lovely greasy breakfast foods. but for some reason the waitress wouldn't let me order home fries. i ordered a waffle and a scrambled egg and bacon and i wanted home fries too (I know, piggy, but I was damn hungry and I love breakfast foods). but she wasn't having it. it was so very strange. soyeah. then later we went to compusa so eric could get some cheap memory for his computer and then we dropped them off at the train station. beck, amy, and i went to my apartment quick and then were almost late getting amy back to the train station because of those damn ambiguous directions again! but we got her there... i went home for a while in the afternoon and hung out at the house for a while. i tried to take the dog for a walk but she was like the only dog ever who didn't want to walk (she's too little yet). i met beck later on for leprechaun lattes at starbucks (peppermint and chocolate syrup and green whipped cream... looked like ectoplasm oozing out of the top of our cups) and we drove around for a while. then i met carrie at price chopper for grocery shopping.

monday was such a long day at work. i couldn't wait to leave. i was pretty productive though... it was carrie's first day here, and she came to lunch with meredith and me. we went to bennigan's for lunch in honor of st. patrick's day. Meredith and I ordered a pint of guinness each, and got them in el cheapo plastic cups. irritating. there was a live band playing, and they were actually pretty good. they played a whole bunch of oldies and british band songs. one of the singers sounded like he thought he was jim morrison. the food was decent. the potato soup was excellent and the reuban i had was pretty good. but the fries sucked. (they were awful, they really sucked ass). anyway. so when we got back to work i totally didn't want to stay. it was beautiful out and i was slightly buzzing (i had to end up pounding my beer because it was time to get back). but the buzz made the phone calls easier to handle so it was all good.

that night i went to northern lights to see seven nations. They were awesome! They're a mix of two of my favorite genres: traditional/celtic music and rock. They have bagpipes and a fiddler. they rule. it was an awesome show. before seven nations played there were a bunch of bands, but i only saw the jimmy kelly band. they were also pretty good. they had an accordian. (that was a random little fragment. but they did. and it was cool. and who learns the squeezebox anyway? who teaches it to you? it's funny when you call it a squeezebox....) i'd see them again. anyway.

i had a pretty good st. patrick's day :) also, my new computer came on that day. i set it up yesterday and it was so exciting. i now have a computer that's virtually silent. rock! i can sleep with my door open and my computer won't keep me awake! it's so sweet :) i made it transfer songs to my minidisc this morning and it was like a billion times (no kidding, really) faster than my old computer. and it didn't crash! rock! yes! yes! excellent!
