less than a month until the trip to ireland. and today i finally got around to figuring out how beck and i will get to/from the airport. we'll take the train from poughkeepsie to grand central and then get on a shuttle from grand central to jfk. the shuttle is run by new york airport service and it costs $22 round trip. we could actually get a free bus shuttle from the howard beach stop of the A train, but i'm thinking that taking a shuttle right from grand central will be much easier than taking the subway to a bus because we'll have our luggage with us and carting that crap around is going to be annoying. i'm hoping to pack very light, but knowing me i'll cram my whole wardrobe into one of my huge suitcases and still hate everything i brought with me when i'm over there. my dad goes to saudi arabia for a month with just one of those carryon size suitcases on wheels. i should ask him for advice... anyway. still much planning to do but i feel like a hero for getting that little bit done so that's all i'm going to worry about right now...
think we're going to saratoga tonight. beck said that alex and steve and foster were going to be up there and we'll probably head up there and meet them. the only thing about beck having a new car is now both of us want to drive our cars. i think i'll let her drive tonight. her car is less than a week old, she should get to show it off as much as possible. thing is, i just freaking love my little beetle so much, i always want to drive it. i just saw a commercial for the beetle (for the promotion where you get an ipod free when you buy a new one) and i wanted to go out and hug my car. i actually clapped at the commercial (lame. that is so entirely lame. i can't believe i just admitted that to the world). and my little car is just too awesome to go up to saratoga in because it's so girly and cute! sigh. ah well. i'll drive some other time... :(
i just watched queer eye for the straight guy on bravo. that show is awesome. the episode i watched showed this guy getting all pretty and then he proposed to his girlfriend at the end. it was a beautiful proposal. actually very exciting television. the gay guys instructed the guy throughout the episode on how to dress, act, decorate, cook etc and then they helped him set up the proposal night. then they left and watched the video of the night and kind of critiqued him and at the end when he was proposing they were all holding hands and so nervous/excited for him. it was so cute! you totally kind of fall in love with the straight guy while you watched the show because it's so freaking sweet that he's doing all this for his girlfriend/wife/whatever. anyway. good show.

so friday night i went out with dodi and jess. we had a "girls night" in Saratoga. it was a great night to be up in Saratoga: the night was beautiful and there was some sort of festival thing going on called "hats off to saratoga" and they'd shut down Caroline street and had a band playing in the street. we started out at the parting glass. they've ruined my favorite saratoga bar. they put freaking fake tile down in the performance area and the dart room. it looks so completely lame. it does not belong in a pub. it's light gray. it almost looks like it's trying to be marble. i hate it. it looks like a big bathroom now. and they took out the glass case from the dart room and put a juke box in there. stupid. we left after one drink because it was too painful to be in there. anyway. it was a good night. Jess rapped for us on the way back to clifton park, which was hella funny. she kind of has this monotone voice and she was doing Nelly's part in "Shake Your Tailfeather" and it was hilarious.
so saturday i was surprised by eric. he randomly came up for the weekend, i guess because Sarah was going to the ballet with his mom. so he had saturday afternoon free and we hung out just like we used to when we both lived at home. we went to the only guitar shop where eric bought a used distortion pedal for his electric guitar that he's trying to start playing. then we hung out at compusa for a little while. eric bought one of those rubber keyboards so that he wouldn't disturb sarah at night when he was up late on the computer with loud key clacking. at the register the girl offered him a one year warranty on it. eric noted that having someone offer you a warranty on something that says indestructible right on the box kind of cheapens the whole experience. we went to clifton park center (the dirt mall) to go to radio shack and we ended up playing ddr for a little bit. it was awesome :) i haven't played in so long and it was great to play with someone who was (almost) as excited as I was about playing it. we parted ways after the ddr and i came back to my apartment to install a new showerhead all by myself. it doesn't leak (much). so then i took a nice long shower and an even longer bath (in which i used this awesome salt scrub from bath and body works that is amazing). i watched say anything on hbo and Alex came over just before the end of it. we bummed around the rest of the night: rented bad boys because i'd never seen the original one and we were planning on going the next night to see the sequal and had awesome chinease food from this place on madison ave, china wok, that was actually very clean on the inside. i have to remember to always order from there because it was freaking the best chinease food ever. i didn't get to see the end of bad boys that night because i passed out on the sofa (damn chinease food).
the next morning i made breakfast because i actually had bacon and eggs and that doesn't happen all the time. my breakfast ruled. i was a lazy bum and sat on my ass all sunday watching movies. i rewatched bad boys so that i could see the end of it and then my sister came over and we watched almost famous which i rented entirely because i like the song, "tiny dancer". i ended up loving that movie. beck and kevin dropped by about a half hour before it was over to pick up supertroopers. i guess kevin hadn't ever seen it (!) and beck loaned her copy to her friend, Amy, and she didn't get it back yet so she had to borrow mine. it's weird how you never want to watch a movie until someone asks you to borrow it. i handed it over to them and i suddenly felt the need to watch it like you wouldn't believe so beck promised me that i'd have it back by the weekend. after the movie my sister drove me up to my parents house where we ate pizza and hassled my brother who just got back from a boy scout canoeing trip. the pizza was Mama's pizza, which i hate, and i tried to make it better by reheating it in the oven instead of the microwave in the hopes that the crispiness would overpower the general suckiness of the pizza but my effort was to no avail. it still sucked. alex picked me up and we saw bad boys II. it was a pretty decent movie, but a little on the longish side and the end was just completely unbelievable. there were some really great scenes in it though that were hilarious especially the scene where they're in the electronics store. funny shit.
overall it was a groovy weekend. (that word needs to be used more. use it.)
it's too bad i can't really say the same for monday. monday kind of blew at work. after work was cool: i got lots of new stuff from victoria's secret for ass cheap because i had a gift certificate and two coupons. i got a bra and six pairs of panties (i detest that word, it makes my skin crawl, but underwear just sounds so clunky) for 98 cents. i rule. then beck and kevin dropped by to show me beck's new car. it's a 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg edition. and it's very cute. she's so excited about it :) here are some pictures:

they took me for a spin and beck is funny getting used to the turbo engine: she kept speeding through yellow/red lights. she's all worried that she's going to get another ticket now :) now we have matching VW flippy keys. i told her that our cars were going to have to go on play dates to get washed together and that i was going to teach her how to wash her car correctly. i think it's very important that people keep their cars clean (at least as long as you're making payments on it) because how can you be excited about a dirty car? after they left i headed up to clifton park to pick up dodi and go to the country drive-in for dinner. country drive in onion rings rule. beck and kevin met us there for ice cream and we hung out for a bit until the mosquitoes bit too much. i took dodi home and swung by target where i picked up an extraordinarily cute and cheap pair of "house shoes". they're flip flops with a white terry cloth top and a "bamboo" bottom. they were on clearance for $4. i needed "house shoes" because it's too hot to wear slippers and my floors are never clean enough for me to go barefoot. also they are very comfortable. yeah. so. time to stop writing. it's time to make myself go to sleep. i must get up on time tomorrow. i must not get up late again...
